Head Rebuilds
Basic standard head rebuild
- applicable to standard, SE and Sprint heads
The head is totally stripped, chemically cleaned, and then inspected.
Anything found suspect during inspection is replaced as well as (typically)
the valves, guides, valve seats, springs, cam followers, cam bearings,
exhaust studs and nuts, and inlet studs. The head is the rebuilt using
the existing cams, and is returned freshly painted and ready to fit.
Big Valve Sprint Conversion - using existing
standard or SE heads
In addition to the work carried out in a basic rebuild the head is fitted
with larger inlet valves (and seats) and Sprint profile camshafts. The
combustion chamber shape is modified and in the same process the compression
ratio is increased.
Sprint Special 360
The head is fully rebuilt and the ports are worked to further improve
gas flow. Our own modified cam profiles are fitted and, with further
increases in the compression ratio, deliver a very tractable 135-140
BHP at 6000RPM
Competition 420
This is the head of choice for an engine that will driven hard on the
track but also needs to be used on the road. Porting work and combustion
chamber modifications are similar to the 360 spec engine but the cam
profile fitted gives higher lift and needs appropriate followers, spriongs
and retainers. This head will produce 145-150 bhp below 6500 rpm and
still remain road tractable.
Competition 450
This spec delivers a dedicated race head. Oversize (1.26 and 1.4) valves
are fitted with appropriate work to the ports and combustion chamber
and our high lift Q450 cams are fitted in bronze guides and with appropriate
followers, springs, etc. With correct carburation and an appropriate
bottom end these heads can produce 160 bhp.
In addition to rebuilding your existing head we can also supply completely
new castings
